be-Khudii le gaii kahaa.N ham ko
der se intazaar hai apanaa

rote phirate hai.n saarii-saarii raat
ab yahii rozagaar hai apanaa

de ke dil ham jo ho gae majabuur
is me.n kyaa iKhtiyaar hai apanaa

kuchh nahii.n ham misaal-e-anqaa lek
shahar-shahar ishtahaar hai apanaa

jis ko tum aasmaan kahate ho
so dilo.n kaa Gubaar hai apanaa

[Bekhudi = trance like state]
[misaal-e-anqaa=rare/unobtainable]

Where did the bekhudi take me,
since long I wait for myself.

I weep and weep whole night,
Now this is the sole occupation, I have.

Giving away heart, helpless I grew,
in this matter, I don' t have much say.

I'm  not an example of a rarity,
and yet in every city there is my advertisement.

The one whom you call the sky,
that's nothing but the rising of dust of my heart.

Mir Taqi Mir (Urduمیر تقی میر) (born 1723 - died 1810), whose real name was Muhammad Taqi (Urduمحمد تقی) and takhallus (pen name) was Mir (Urduمیر) (sometimes also spelt as Meer Taqi Meer), was the leading Urdu poet of the 18th century, and one of the pioneers who gave shape to theUrdu language itself. He was one of the principal poets of the Delhi School of the Urdu ghazal and remains arguably the foremost name in Urdu poetry often remembered as Khuda-e-sukhan (god of poetry)
